The Modera Advantage
Modera Wealth Management believes our credentials in the wealth management industry are unmatched. We have outlined our value proposition below point-by-point to illustrate how we stand out from other firms.
Expertise. Our professional staff has more than 150 years of combined experience and 24 professional credentials degrees, including: 8 Certified Financial Planners, 4 Chartered Life Underwriters, 3 CFA Charterholders, 2 Chartered Financial Consultants, 2 Certified Public Accountants, 1 Accredited Investment Fiduciaries, 1 Chartered Advisor for Senior Living, 1 Enrolled Agent, and 1 Chartered Accountant.
Fee-Only Compensation. Our compensation is 100% fee-only. We do not earn commissions or otherwise profit from the sale of financial products or through our work with third-party vendors. The fee-only approach to financial planning has been endorsed by AARP, the Consumer Federation of America and state regulators. Forbes Magazine stated, “The most important matter is how a planner is compensated.” We are members of NAPFA, the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors, an organization of fee-only financial planners.
Placing Clients First. As a Registered Investment Advisor, regulated by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, we are a fiduciary, required by law to put your best interests first. Commissioned planners, registered representatives and stockbrokers are not required to be a fiduciary to their clients. Since we are a fiduciary, you receive advice that is untainted by compensation conflicts of interest.
Independence. We are not affiliated with any company that offers “for profit” investments or insurance products. You will never be pressured to buy any particular investment or insurance product. This ensures that you receive unbiased investment advice from us.
National Reputation. For the eighth consecutive year (2001-2008), Wealth Manager Magazine recognized the firm as one of the top wealth management firms in the nation. For the past four years, Worth Magazine named us as one of the best wealth advisors in the country. Since 2004, Medical Economics Magazine has consistently ranked us as one of the top 150 financial advisors in the nation for doctors. In 2008 and 2007, Financial Advisor Magazine ranked our firm among the top financial advisors in the nation with $300-$500 million of assets under management. Also, in 2008, Reuters named us among the top 500 financial advisors in the country.
Goal Achievement. We help you establish your goals for today, plan your dreams for tomorrow, and leave a meaningful, lasting legacy for future generations. We provide you written “action steps” to help successfully achieve your objectives, as well as a means to track, report and update your progress.
Personalized Service. At Modera Wealth Management, you benefit from large-firm resources with the personalized service of a small, boutique firm. We have one of the highest staff/client ratios in the industry, and, in addition to a lead advisor, you will be supported by a team of specialists who are familiar with your goals and are available when you need them.
Transparency and Safety. Modera Wealth Management does not take title of your assets, which are held by an independent custodian to ensure their safety. We use the services of two companies, one is an institutional custodian insured by the Securities Investor Protection Corporation (SIPC), and the other is a bank regulated by the Office of Thrift Supervision. You have access to your portfolio at all times. You receive statements directly from your custodian, and you also receive performance reports from us.
Alternative Asset Classes. In addition to traditional investments, you will have the option to invest a portion of your portfolio in alternative investments such as real estate, energy, market neutral hedge funds, venture capital, private equity, timber, or private loans and mortgages through our own Modera Alternative Investments, LP. One major advantage of alternative asset classes is that they are less affected by what influences the traditional stock and bond markets, increasing portfolio diversification.
Risk Management. Our financial planning process seeks to minimize unnecessary risk and volatility in your investment portfolio while ensuring you will be able to accomplish your long-term personal financial goals.
Coordination. We will work with your other professional advisors (e.g. attorney, accountant) to ensure an integrated approach to your financial planning and portfolio management. We offer a 10% discount for the calendar quarter in which we meet with you and your other professional advisors.
